SCRIP
is a term used to mean "substitute money'. When scrip certificates (also
known as scrips) are purchased, they are negotiable gift certificates
that are used just like cash. Scrips are issued by national and local
retailers. A wide variety of retailers participate (e.g. Macys, Stater
Bros, Burger King). Scrips are purchased at face value. If you purchase
a $5.00 scrip for Burger King, you receive a $5.00 scrip for Burger
King.
What's the catch? How do we generate revenue for the Music
Boosters? When scrips are purchased in advanced, they are purchased with
CASH UP FRONT. You must pay IN ADVANCE for the scrips. Retailers love
cash up front. When the Music Program buys the scrips from the Great
Lakes Scrip Center with cash upfront, we get the scrips at a discount.
The delta between the full face value of the scrip certificate and the
discounted purchase price is the revenue we make. The discounted
rate varies from retailer to retailer. A list of current retailers and

The BEST SECRET about scrips with the ANHSIMB scrip program, is
that the revenue generated by you goes directly against your Band/Colorguard
Fees for your child(ren). You earn the money and get to credit it to
your individual account. ANHSIMB does not get a single cent. ANHSIMB
does this program as a fundraiser program for parents to lower their
fees.
ANHSIMB scrip program is sponsored through
Great Lakes Scrip Center. There are various other scrip
organizations. This organization seems to be the best to-date. We have
been with them since 2005. Great Lakes Scrip Center teams with
ShopwithScrip.com to capture individual orders on-line for each
organization.
How does the process work? You, your family, your friends, your
neighbors, etc. will review the list of retailers offering scrips
certificates. You will fill in an on-line order form (or fill in a
offline scrip
form) to purchase scrips in fixed denomination amounts from your chosen
retailer. Purchases are usually offered in denominations of $2, $5, $10,
$25, $50 or $100. All in US currency. You'll submit a check (made out to
ANHSIMB) for the total amount of scrips being purchased plus a $1.00 for
handling fees. The ANHSIMB scrip coordinator will designate dates for
ANHSIMB order submission. Once ANHSIMB scrip coordinator submits the
group order, it will take about a week to receive the scrips and
distribute them back.
A list of participating retailers can be found
on-line. You can download a printer friendly version of the
list of participating retailers in either
detailed list
PDF format or a
summarized 3-column list PDF format. You must have
Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the PDF formatted file. Discounts vary
from 2% to 17% depending on the retailer. Average discount is around 5%.
The discounted amount is also referenced as 'contribution'.
Retailers will offer Specials from time to time, so
before placing your order, always check the
latest news and update section. You can also sign up to receive
emails on specials. The specials are basically larger discount amounts
(towards revenue in your account). Also be aware, that particating
retailers will also drop their program and no longer offer discounts.

How to order?
Before ordering, remember to view any
Specials online. There are two
ways to order.
- Print this scrip order form, fill it in manually, and submit your order
form with your check at the designated time.
- Use the online ordering system at
http://shopwithscrip.com. Sign up for your own individual account
using our ANHSIMB enrollment number. Submit your order online. Submit
your check (and a printout of your online order) at the designated time.
- Instructions for how to register and use the online ordering
system
- Add $1.00 to your online printout to cover shipping
fees. We are not able to modify the Scrip Programs Order system to
reflect our shipping fees
- Remember to include the name of the Band/ColorGuard person who
will be receiving the revenue in the Student Name and Teacher Name
slots in the 'My Profile' section. Otherwise, we will not know who
to credit.
- All Checks are made payable to ANHSIMB

The frequency of scrip ordering depends on the season.
During Marching Band Fall season, orders are placed every 2 weeks.
During the Spring season, orders are placed 1.5 times/month. During the
summer, orders are placed once/month. Frequency will change depending on
demand. Contact the scrip coordinator to find out the specific dates. A
published schedule will appear once the 2009-20010 season starts. Check the calendar to see the actual deadline dates.
Orders are placed on Mondays and fulfillment usually occurs that weekend.
Pick-up/Distribution will occur before/after Band Practice either on
a Friday or Saturday. Special distribution arrangements are made if you do not have a child in Band/ColorGuard, but participate
to help our alumni fund.
